The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Ok, this made it onto Slashdot, it's an article from PCWorld from Friday with the scary title "Wi-Fi Bug Found in Linux" with the even scarier by-line "A major Linux Wi-Fi driver contains a bug that can allow an attacker to take control of a laptop--even when it is not on a Wi-Fi network."

    O GNOES!

Well, here's the Ubuntu security announcement of the patch that fixes this vulnerability. Take careful note of when the thread was posted and the patch released. (Hint, it's not exactly new.)

This is why the "mainstream" tech media sucks.

Gotta love it. The media is always two steps behind what's really going on.

No wonder why Microsoft convicts OpenSourcers of having stolen code from them.

That's because people want to find something wrong with Linux once in a while, so that M$ users can feel a little better that they are too lazy to switch over. (It's not like Mac users care that Linux is great...heck Mac OS is based in UNIX)
