Trying to figure out how much I should make from a old drive.
It has 120 gigs, 60 gigs free.
How much do I need for ubuntu, for a good amount? Like, 20? 30?

Depends on what you want. 10GB should be enough for a system that isn't going to store any media, videos, etc. 20-30GB will almost certainly not be filled, at least not by installed software.

Won't allow me to partition below 50 gigs for some reason :\
Oh well, it's working, even compiz, on ati! -
Oh wow..50GB is required to dual boot? I know someone with a 40 GB and using only 10 GB that wanted to dual boot..no way if it needs 50. LOL
-
It doesn't need 50GB, It requires a minimum of around 5. If you let it try and take the space itself, it may try and allocate a lot more than it needs. Just manually partition.
I gave it 10GB for / about an hour ago. -
It won't allow me to do less than 50 :\
Is that because I'm using Vista? -
Manually partition. Change the size yourself.

My Kubuntu partition is 8GB. With a 1.25GB swap.
My /home is on its own 60GB partition though, since that's where all my videos and stuff is.
