In my gnome setup, all the windows show up in the window list at the bottom no matter which desktop (1-4) I am at. How do I change that so that only the windows in the current desktop appear in the bottom list ?

If you right click slightly to the left of the first window button, you should have an option to open the preferences for the Window List. In that popup you should see options for Window List Content. Make sure you have Show windows from current workspace selected, and you should be good to go.

    Good Luck..

Thanks, I just did it, and moved a couple of windows to workspace 2. But now in worksspaces 2-4 window list, the two windows are there in each one(and none of the others windows), and in workspace 1 window list ALL the windows are still present.
    Wierd behavior ??

You're right, it's weird. I didn't think that the Window List settings could be different for each window, or workspace. First thing I would try is rebooting and logging back in and see if all window/workspace lists are for local windows only. If that doesn't fix it, then there might be another setting to adjust somewhere. Are you running Compiz, or Metacity? Or you might need to reinstall a Gnome component. Does your distro allow you to reinstall Gnome components separately?

    Good Luck..
