I've installed PCBSD dual with Vista on 02 different primary partitions. PCBSD also install the boot loader. At the startup, it will display :

    F1. (recovery tools of Dell)
    F2. PCBSD
    F3. DOS (actually, it's Vista)

After that, I decide to delete the PCBSD partition, and then using Vista installation disk to repair Vista. I am success to boot from Vista, but the annoying thing is that the boot loader still display at the boot phrase :

    F1. (recover tool)
    F2. Vista

I would like to ask :
    1. What kind of this boot loader !? Is it controlled by Vista (winload)
    2. How to edit/config or delete it ?

    Thanks in advance !

Vista apparently came with a new bootloader, there are third party utilities such as EasyBCD to make the job of editing the BCD erm easy!

    Use the Gag live cd:

    http://gag.sourceforge.net/

When running it as a live cd, just choose the option "uninstall" and it will clear everything from the mbr.

    GAG sounds interesting software :)

I've installed ubuntu, and grub was replaced the PCBSD boot loader, working with Grub is easier for me. The problem was solved !

Future users viewing this thread may also note that Super GRUB can restore Vista's MBR as well.

Ubuntu is very good that way. It will delete conflicting boot files, and knows to leave windows alone lol
