I need help installing the latest version of Opera. i searched on the web and this forum and was able to find a Ubuntu Help Guide but I was not able to install Opera. I added the Ubuntu repos version and I can't find Opera in synaptic and I tried to add the official Opera repos and that doesn't work either. Any suggestions?

I think you download the .deb package and then use that command, 'dpkg -i and then the name of the .deb file. It should place Opera in the menu some place, hopefully in the 'Internet' section.
In Debian, that's what you do and I don't see why Ubuntu would be any different in this case.
I think there are categories, too, for the various distros or operating systems and Ubuntu is included.
Go here and choose the first one:
http://www.opera.com/browser/download/
or here, if you are using 64-bit Intrepid 8.10:

It's just as clean.....just download the package previously linked to and double click it. All Synaptic does is downloads deb packages really.

If you install a .deb package manually that's fine but be aware that Ubuntu won't inform you of updates to any packages you install that way. Opera happens to inform you of updates but I'm just sayin', there's a difference.

Yes of course...but I know that Opera informs you of updates.

Opera repositories can be found at http://www.opera.com/support/kb/view/841/
Then the opera package should show up in Synaptic.
