Being unhappy with the factory-installed Window Vista home version, tried to install RHEL4U4. The system bootup but it came with "half" of the screen. Any idea how and how can I fix is there some X window drivers for sony Vaio VGN-FZ220E. Many thanks for your help

    Why Red hat?
    It's mainly a server distro.
    Try Ubuntu.

A better start would be with either Ubuntu, or OpenSUSE.

For a laptop, that RHEL is a completely uninspiring distro if it's anything like CentOS. I'd go with one of the 'buntus or Mandriva.

You just need to make sure you have the right video HW driver installed and configured. I'm not familiar with Redhat Linux, but if you have a tool that lets you configure your drivers make sure you have the Intel video driver installed since that's the video HW you have in your laptop.

    Good Luck..

Definitely go with Ubuntu. RHEL isn't a good choice for a laptop.

If you're intent on an RPM-based distro, you could try Fedora. It's based off of and supported by Red Hat, but it's more bleeding-edge and oriented towards the general user.
