Is there a configurable *.ini type file in Linux that can make programs boot at startup?

i am no linux expert but in ubuntu, go to System > Preferences > Sessions > Start Up Program.

Did you google for the beryl documentation?
You don't want Beryl to start at boot. You want it to start when your X session starts. What azntfl mentions may be a way to start it but there may be other ways. The beryl docs should provide the required information. -
Yes. I used this method. When you get to the Start Up Programs tab, click on the New button on the right. In the Name box, type a name that will be descriptive of the program (i.e. Beryl Manager). In the Command box, type "beryl-manager" without quotes, and make sure it's all lowercase. Click OK and you're done.
Note: I use Ubuntu feisty, so I don't know about what the other distros use.
Note2: You may wish to make sure everything is working (i.e. the title bars are there, etc.) before you set Beryl to start up at session start.
Hope this helps!
