    Hi,
So I have an Ubuntu disc sent to me.
So what should I do with it? Dual boot or virtual machine.
What is the most fun with Linux that I can play with? (besides web surfing and stuff)

If it isn't a project to clear free space on a hard drive, go for dual boot. If you can't, then a VM is a good option, but more limited than an actual install.

So how's about the other question: what is fun to play with in Ubuntu?

I would get it installed, then check to make all your hardware works. After everything is good, check out compiz-fusion. Its a really advanced theme engine.

It's not really a "theme engine". Basically it's pretty effects. Much better and more lightweight then Vista's Aero with all kinds of plugins. After you get Ubuntu installed, be sure to install the ubuntu-restricted-extras package.
