This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     According to http://wubi-installer.org/ ,it takes around 5 Gig harddisk space but when I look at my harddisk it takes 17 Gig ...

    that's probably the allocated total size of the drive that Windows gave it. Like the size of the partition, including all free space

    I think 17GB is the default for the wubi installer, it's an option you may have overlooked?

    Ubuntu definitely doesn't take 17GB. I have approx. 11GB alloted for Ubuntu, and only about 5 of those are taken up with the OS itself.
