This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Installing OpenOffice 3 in user account -- what would I lose ?

    When I tried to install openoffice in user mode, it said that some functionality would be lost -- what functionality is it that I would lose ?

    what distro are you using? I'm using ubuntu and that came with Oo.org 2.whatever preinstalled. I just added the software sources for 3.0 and did an update and 2.whatever is now 3.whatever yeah.

    Just offhand, I'd guess printer management. It should be fine for whatever you need to do.
