Ok so I already have Windows Vista x64 on a first HD and Windows 7 on a second HDD in my Asus G50, however even if the BIOS is set to boot off the DVD drive initially, I'm being taken straight to the Windows OS loader menu instead of booting into the Ubuntu installation. Question is, how do I get this to do it's thing? Do I need to pull out one of my HDDs in order to possibly disable the need to pick an OS (with just one OS available), or is this just an Asus G50 issue, or is their a work around for this little problem? Any help, especially from Asus G50 users would be appreciated, specs in sig if it helps.

Hit ESC a few times when you turn it on... it should force the boot menu to come up.

I thought all distros of Linux auto-booted :p

I'll check to see if it is or not, and I'll try the esc thing.

I just test with ubuntu 7.1 (64 bit) and it boot fine.

I have my boot sequence to

    1. CD/DVD
    2. Removable Device
    3. Network
    4. Hard Disk

Agreed. With an Asus G50VT-X5, and boot sequence listed identical to mikeyhd, Ubuntu 8.10 dual boot works just fine. I have Vista x64 as well, and don't notice anything out of the ordinary on your specs. Are you sure the media is not damaged in some way?

Has anyone had any success installing Ubuntu 9.04 onto the G50? I'm currently running Win 7 RC1 (love it), but would like to add Linux on the other HDD.

My experience so far suggests that Ubuntu won't install correctly, though (and in my case meant I needed to clean install win7 too, grrrrr).
