I have played with Linux for years but I am still a beginner. Up until now I have either installed Linux or used Live CD. I am looking to switch to USB live boot because I like the idea of portable OS like Live CD, but I run into driver issues often. So my question is can I create a live boot USB and then once I loaded the Linux I install drivers and change things around like I would with installed version of Linux? And if so will those changes be saved, so once the driver is installed it will be saved on the USB?

use Unetbootin. http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
which OS will u be using? -
I did, unetbootin is perfect, easy to use. I am using Back Track 4 Linux. I already have my live USB set up. My issue is, I am using this USB across bunch of different computers and I am running into issues with laptops that have Realtek wireless N. I does not recognize the wireless card. So now I am wondering can I install realtek Linux driver in such a way that once its installed it will stay installed.

through the usb u mean...
i don't see why not..
its like saving windows drivers to a usb..,(instead of reinstalling them from the website) and installing them..or so it makes sense...
also what would help is try to do some googling on your version and see what comes up..i'm sure there's something somewhere..
as well as the linux forums for whichever OS your using. -
See i am thinking of the same thing, I assume it should work. But i wanted to chk it out and see what ppl say. I tried to google this and I have not found anything about this topic. I did find solutions to my driver issues. Even though the linux is on the USB and you can theoretically make changes and save them. I don't know if there are any restrictions that are in place because of the live boot
