I am trying to install the intel graphics media accelerator x3100 for my x61s to solve display and desktop effect problems. i followed the guide:

can someone please tell me how to fix this?
Ubuntu is more interesting with desktop effect and I would like to run vmware with beryl.

I make no promises, but the procedure on this page (below the feature list) is exactly what I had to do to install the drivers for the X3100 in my Toshiba.

Hope it helps. I didn't manage to get Compiz running in KDE with that setup, but perhaps Gnome will be more accommodating.

Has anyone gotten the X3100 to work on beryl? I just got a fresh install on my T61 and when I switch to cube mode I just get a white box. Everything else seems like it works fine with a 2d desktop on my machine, resolution is fine. I do get some artifacts when booting but they go away after getting to the login screen.
Seems like driver support is a bit flaky when it comes to Santa Rosa notebooks with Linux. -
i got it work. try this link:
