    I am trying to install the intel graphics media accelerator x3100 for my x61s to solve display and desktop effect problems. i followed the guide:
    http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Installing_Ubuntu_7.04_(Feisty_Fawn)_on_a_ThinkPad_T61#Intel_Graphics_Media_Accelerator_X3100_.28Chipset_GM965.29_.28Solved.29

    typed: dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -uc -b

    "dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: debhelper (>= 5) quilt xserver-xorg-dev (>= 2:1.3.0.0) x11proto-gl-dev x11proto-video-dev libgl1-mesa-dev | libgl-dev libxvmc-dev (>= 1:1.0.1-1) x11proto-core-dev x11proto-fonts-dev x11proto-randr-dev (>= 1.2) x11proto-render-dev x11proto-xinerama-dev libdrm-dev (>= 2.2) x11proto-xf86dri-dev
    dpkg-buildpackage: Build dependencies/conflicts unsatisfied; aborting.
    dpkg-buildpackage: (Use -d flag to override.)"

    can someone please tell me how to fix this?
    Ubuntu is more interesting with desktop effect and I would like to run vmware with beryl.

    I make no promises, but the procedure on this page (below the feature list) is exactly what I had to do to install the drivers for the X3100 in my Toshiba.

    https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/ToshibaSatelliteP200-ST2061

    Hope it helps. I didn't manage to get Compiz running in KDE with that setup, but perhaps Gnome will be more accommodating.

    Has anyone gotten the X3100 to work on beryl? I just got a fresh install on my T61 and when I switch to cube mode I just get a white box. Everything else seems like it works fine with a 2d desktop on my machine, resolution is fine. I do get some artifacts when booting but they go away after getting to the login screen.

    Seems like driver support is a bit flaky when it comes to Santa Rosa notebooks with Linux.
