This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    You don't meet the minimum memory requirement of 256MB. Ubuntu will run slowly on a machine like that, but you could always try out Xubuntu, which is a lighter-weight version of Ubuntu. As well, there are hundreds of other distros out there to choose from. Visit www.distrowatch.com to tak a look at the most popular distros

    Xubuntu will work. Ubuntu will work, but may be slow. You may want to consider elive too. Its designed to work without much bloat, so low end systems run it pretty well.
