    IMPORTANT NOTICE
This is a beta version intended for all early adopters who are excited to experience the latest in Android’s evolution.

We're asking for our beta users, developers and testers to help us optimize Remix OS for PC.

Join our Google Group to see what fellow users are talking about or give us your feedback here.

Please understand that we read all your messages and feedback, but may not always reply due the volume of the feedback.

Looks nice. What's the difference between this and Phoenix OS though (in terms of design goal) ?

I don't know what they did here with this beta, alpha was fine, installed, could see all files, no problem. This beta they created 3 partitions, 2 invisible, left me with 800 MB free space out of 8GB. On 32 GB stick I'm left with 10GB. To get my memory stick back I need to get partitioning software, WTF. Who comes up with this idiocy? And why? I'll test it for kicks, but I will not tolerate hidden multiple partition and "black box" OS, even on my phone I have full access to all files after rooting.

Have you investigated the partitions? They could be swap, recovery, pre-allocated / reserved pool.

It could also be their use of the partitioning tool they are using. Common to many tools used to create a dedicated flash drive functionality, they don't care about secondary use.

You should post this via their support feedback request form, they would appreciate the feedback :)

I don't see any system files, nothing, empty shared partition about 10GB, system files are on hidden system partition about 3.5GB and there is 16 GB partition for data, nothing I have can read it, all this on 32GB memory stick. Pretty stupid way to do things, especially for betta, can't even access the files to make changes in scripts if something not working etc. Alpha was totally different, could see files right from the Windows. I don't want to bother with it: logged on to Google to download and test some programs, doesn't work, can't even see if files downloaded, I could download under Win and copy, but with hidden system partition, how do I copy there? I'm sick and tired of those hidden partitions and hidden file systems, like that stupid shadow copy in Windows, can't access it, can't even see how much space it takes, but no problem for experienced hackers to do whatever they want with it.

The "hidden" partition is a normal ext4.

RemixOS sounds neat and all, but it has few drivers for wireless adapters. It seems the perfect option for old or weak hardware if you just want basic functionality and not the Windows bloat. I have an Asus X205TA with Atom CPU and 64GB eMMC, but wireless doesn't work.

I wonder whether those USB WiFi dongles will work? Used to be the solution to lots of people who had Intel WiFi cards and wanted to run a hackintosh. (Yes, I know there are custom, hacked kexts before a smart-ass chimes in but it was hit and miss)

I'll give it a go as a VM when the final release comes out to test - already running Android in a VM well enough.

I think they just need to bake in Broadcom, Intel, and Qualcomm drivers. Those are the most common, seems Broadcom wasn't included in these builds.

I wanted to like Remix OS. I really did. Unfortunately, it has a fundamental flaw, one it shares with Windows 8: touch UIs and keyboard/mouse UIs are different. Jide say that Remix OS is great on desktops but it's not. At least, it's not for applications which use touch gestures. Gestures like edge swipes and pinch zoom are trivially easy with a multi-touch screen but they're cumbersome with a keyboard and mouse. And while Jide's home/launcher is designed for keyboard and mouse use, almost all Android apps are designed for small touch screens, not large desktops. Trying to make those apps work in such a different environment doesn't work.

That's been my experience with Android from Donut to LP (I've owned a lot of Android devices), Android-x86, Android-IA and Remix OS.
