I was looking for a way to convert HD mkv files into mp4 that the PS3 will read. I was first messing around with bash commands and so forth and while reading I came across this cool video utility called Handbrake. It will convert files to what format you need, such as an ipod, ps3, xboc 360 and psp. There are other custom video formats also.

    Heres the link

Thanks for the link! I've been looking somewhat into different video apps for Ubuntu, now that I have some footage on my hands to edit.

Well I am glad I was able to provide some useful information to someone.

When I buy my HD movies, I convert them to Mp4 and put them on my media server and watch it on the PS3 with surround sound.
