    Hello all,

While not exactly a noob, I am not a guru either with Linux. I have been trying the LiveCD version of Kubuntu 9.04, but have not been able to establish a wireless connection so far.
The connection manager sees my router and my neighbor's connection and I am able to connect to their's, they have no security set up.
On my connection I am using WEP. I chose my connection, edited it with my WEP key, and tried connecting to it. It pulls up a menu and asks for my WEP key and says connection failed. I go back to re-edit my connection, and the WEP key is gone.
Is this normal on the live CD, to not save the settings? Also, it seems to say connection failed before I can type in my WEP key.
I have booted and the wireless works fine on Kubuntu 8.1. It also looks like it uses a different connection manager.
Would doing a regular install fix this? Thanks in advance for the help, and sorry for the ramble.

    Philip

Both Kubuntu and Ubuntu suck at wireless especially with the LiveCD.

However, there are only a few wireless cards that work out of the box.

The *buntus are no better than other distros at wireless. They just try to make it look better, well, KDE is, I guess.
