Ok, so I glanced through this list and noticed quite a bit was missing, so I am going to post my personal programs that I love, which will cover quite a few ones that are already listed, and others that arent.

    Windows // Linux
MS Office // OpenOffice.org, KOffice (KDE)
Messengers // Pidgin, Kopete (KDE), LICQ (cli based)
    DVD Copying // K9Copy (think Dvdshrink/dvd decrypter)
    Itunes/Music // Amarok
Video // Kaffeine, VLC, MPlayer, Xine, Totem
    CAD // QCad
    3d Modeling // Blender
Programming // Anjuta, Kdevelop, Eclipse (Multiplatform, yay!)
Web Design // Quanta+ (Kde/QT Based), BlueFish, Screem
Cd Recording // K3B, Cd Record, XCDRoast, GnomeBaker
Finances // GnuCash (pretty nice, and can do pretty well on
    importing quicken files)
    Image Editing // Gimp
    Image Manipulation // ImageMagick, gimp
    Photo Album // DigiKam
    Torrent // Azureus, Ktorrent
P2P // LimeWire, Frostwire (this is the same as limewire basic, NOT
    pro)
Outlook // Kmail, Thunderbird (With lightning plugin, webmail plugin(s))

Ok, I think that is a pretty good start on it.

What are some of you LInux users using as alternatives to Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator? How do you rate the different applications you've used?

I don't know about InDesign or Illustrator cause I don't use those, but the Gimp for photo editing is quite powerful.

Yeah, GIMP is okay, but nothing rivals the power of Photoshop or the rest of the CS3 Suite, unfortunately...

Check out the "GIMP" for photo editing, "Scribus" for DTP, and "Incscape" for illustration.

ive never used it before, but i believe evolution is a substitute for outlook (just click on the time and it will roll a calender down, then double click on a date. Or it is in the applications menu as well.)

as for the lcd, try ubuntu 7.10 maybe?

Hmmm, may want to add Inkscape, Clam/Klam AV, Time Vault, and Wine might go in as well.
Why not make this ''Linux Alternatives for Windows/Mac Software''?
