wow....what can this be good for? hmmmmm![]()

The spec indicates single 12v supply, so probably suitable for some mobile applications e.g. car or boat?
-
Aye, car or boat seems sound, some good resolution output on it though haha, and linux at that spec is definately capable, i can tell you that
.

I was surprised that unit got the good reviews it did. Made it interesting to me for a possible use.

Lol. If I had money, I'd buy one and test it out. But unfortunately, I don't, so feel free to!

I've been looking for a replacement to my aging Linksys NSLU2 (runs Debian lenny), the fit-pc is a bit old, check out the sheevaplug and newer guruplug (they both have UK variants).
Debian on the SheevaPlug -
Yes, they are a little long in the tooth....the Plug computers look pretty cool.
-
Ya, I dunno. The only thing I can think of is plugging it into an external hdd, networking it and calling it a home server.

That's exactly what I do with my Linksys NSLU2, although it's getting a bit tired now (slow even with the de-underclock). I use it running Debian Lenny as a web server (apache) for light dev work at home (it used to serve up my howtos until it killed my bandwidth and I moved to a real host), file sharing, ssh, and upnp media with mediatomb (except for HD video, since it really can't handle it). Works wonders with my Nokia N900 since I can offload stuff to it and not have to fill up my SD card on the phone (stream vids and my music library, etc). I'm seriously debating getting a guruplug once the kinks are worked out, it's just hitting retailers. Of course my NSLU2 was $50 (used) and the guruplug is something like $200ish so I may wait and find it used.
