If your internet only works in Windows, just download the gparted LiveCD and use that. As for where to download it? How about you try a Google search for "gparted"?

Figured this was a good place to ask this instead of creating a new thread:

I'm planning on installing Ubuntu on my old desktop, but since it is in another state at the moment, want to test out Ubuntu via the Live CD.

So I restart, boot from the disk, and have tried both the start and install option and the graphics safe mode option but both had the same problem:

/bin /sh: can't access tty; job control turned off (initramfs)

At this poin the Live CD apparently hangs and I have to hard reset. Any tips or tricks for a linux nub?
