This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    FD showed up this morn.I used Boot and run Linux from a USB flash memory stick | USB Pen Drive Linux to set up the FD took about 15 minutes for the program to run.Rebooted into Mint, promptly located the update manager,updated the program,made a few adjustments to get online,and here I am. :cool:

    Look forward to learning how to tweak Linux to my liking. :D

    An easy way to put any Linux installer .iso (LiveCD) on a flash drive is a free program called Unetbootin (Google it). They have versions for Windows, Mac and Linux. You can tell it to use an .iso you've already downloaded or pick a distro from the drop-down list and it will d/l and install it to the flash drive for you. They update the program frequently to keep up with the latest and most popular distros. Always use the latest version available from their website to ensure a workable installer on the flash drive.
