I'm just curious to see if you guys subscribe to any Linux podcasts.

    I listen to LugRadio ( lugradio.org) and The Linux Action Show ( linuxactionshow.com) like a religion. :p

I'm not into the newbie "how-to" shows, but if you guys know of any good ones, maybe list them here for others.

FINALLY... are you good FOSS users and listen to the OGG version of whatever show you subscribe to? ;)

Is .ogg format better than MP3 or WAV when it comes to Size and/or Quality?

And also how compatible is it with other players like Quicktime, Winamp, and Windows Media?

In terms of quality/size, ogg is very similar to LAME mp3 encoding. It does however, beat out WMP and iTunes ripped tracks at the same bitrate.

I've found it to be a pretty good quality, but it's not immediately compatible. Pretty much any program in the Linux world will play it, but I don't think any of the others closed programs (WMP, iTunes, etc) will play it natively. Could be wrong about that.

You do need to install codecs for WMP, I know that much.

I listen to a few podcasts regularly - but they are all in MP3 format. I don't really mind, since everyone hasn't seen the light and experienced FOSS yet.

CNET BuzzOut Loud - Pretty hilarious, mildly informative (15-30 mins/weekdays)
APM Writer's Almanac - Garrison Keillor's podcast; if any of you are fiction writers, you know about Keillor and his love for the written word. (5 mins/daily)

    I periodically listen to:

Slate.com Daily Podcast - Oddball news. Really - but all real issues. (5 mins/daily)
    Science.com Podcast - You know, the peer-edited journal, Science? (15 mins/bimonthly)
