I just got my 1530 and I am running only Ubuntu on it. I installed Wine and then Steam, after some googling it all worked fine. It takes a little more work than on windows, but it still is not very hard and I can run it on full settings in 1280x800 on my 8400 GS.

Ben, are you talking the native linux Q4: Enemy Territory? I might have to check that one out if I've got my facts straight.

To the people with CS:S and other Steam games: how much faster (if at all) does it run over Windows (XP or Vista)?
If you could list average FPS for both Linux and Windows that would be great :)

vista i got about 90fps on cs_office and on fedora 7 i got about 80fps on cs_office, so i noticed a drop of about 10fps (but, when the fps is that high it really doesnt matter)

another thing to note is that there are newer linux nvidia drivers out which i never used, i was using one from early 2007 i believe for linux and for vista i had the latest one.

Well thats good to know. Personally, I would be happy with a 10% fps drop

    It's not a 10 % drop, it's plain 10 - there's a difference. :p.

Anyway, gaming is quite possible in Linux these days. Just look around =)

Hey, as long as it worked :p.

Were you troubleshooting the whole day or would it simply not install?
