I was thinking to install the Linux Mint 16 Xfce in an old Clevo 470k( AMD 3200+ (one core) , 1Gb RAM, ATI 9600 card) and to use an even older printer HP 1120C.
Is this okay or is too heavy for this kind of laptop?

That sounds reasonable presuming that the CPU in question - which I'm not familiar with in the least - supports PAE/NX which I believe is a requirement for newer versions of Mint.
I've had good experiences with Mint Debian and CentOS on hardware from that era. YMMV.
Good luck.UNCNDL1 likes this. -
Linux works better on old hardware than new one

If you run into any Mint issues I would try Bodhi linux, Non PAE and PAE versions are available. It is minimalistic so not great for beginners IMO, but juding by some of your posts I think you would do well with it (unlike the struggle it has been for me). Right now I am running PAE version and have chromium and Midori open and only use 750 MB ram.
