How many tabs do you have open, and how much memory is firefox eating ?

I experience no lag in any version of FF.

Are you using the emerald windows decorator? If so, that's a known issue with emerald. When I had emerald on, FF was slow to switch tabs. The solution is to use another decorator than emerald.

I read on the ubuntu forums that it has something to do with xul... You could try purging it and reinstalling it...

I actually have this issue as well. Tab switching is very slow, and scrolling is laggy. I'm using Epiphany in FF's place for now.

I have FF3RC installed via apt-get, and have no problems....sometimes it does however get carried away with CPU usage per my karamba processes monitor I keep on the desktop...but it stays pretty fast.

The problem of laggy scrolling is often fixed by disabling smooth scrolling in preferences. Looks like I spoke too soon on that issue.

That said, Firefox still sucks on Linux.

Firefox works well (read: fast) for me in Linux, XP and even OSX. The only issue I've ever had with FF has been in OSX - it won't allow me to copy and paste! [IMG]

Same here....I'm using Kubuntu....Kubuntu runs faster than Ubuntu on my machine, which basically is contrary to popular belief
