I've been looking at HP's DV2000t series of laptops. Does anyone have any experience running on Linux on them? I've read that repartitioning the drive is somewhat difficult due to the way to HP formats their drives. Are there any other surprises with trying to get Linux onto one?

Had trouble with the WiFi card in Unbuntu and my V3000T. If you can the best thing would be to wipe the drive and do a clean install of Windows.

I'll probably be getting a Centrino-based laptop, and I believe Intel has released open source drivers for its wifi on linux, so that shouldn't be a problem. What about things like ACPI support, support for suspend/resume?

As for reformatting/reinstalling, will using HP's restore disc work or will that put me right back where I started? I don't have a separate copy of XP to use.

Yes it will. You will need the XP cd. I think, though I may be wrong, HP will supply you one for a fee.
