    Hi everyone, as you can read, I own an HP dv6451us laptop with the following specs:

    - 2G RAM
    - AMD Turion64 x2
    - Nvidia go6150
    - 160G HD
    - Wireless and bluetooth

    i want to install a linux distro on it, but this is what happens when i try to install some distros:

    - Ubuntu 7.10 [Does nothing in the starting sequence (Freezes but in live cd works fine)]
    - Ubuntu 6 [same issue]
    - OpenSuse x64 10.3 [Same thing]
    - Sabayon... too heavy and i don't like it [plus: i can't configure wireless card]

    I'll really appreciate if any of you guys know about a successfully linux installation for this machine [thanks in advance]

    Did you try installing Ubuntu with the alternate CD?

    Yes, Fedora is a good option, but first try PCLinuxOS 2008. ;)

    But, seriously, what do you mean when you say that they don't do anything. Do you mean that you see an entry for them in your Grub menu but that when you select them they don't boot?

    Personally I think he's experiencing a hardware issue. Probably during boot a piece of hardware is causing an error or something trying to be loaded.

    He is probably having problems with ACPI services. When you get to the boot menu, press F6 for more options on booting Ubuntu. Then, add the following to the end of the boot command:

    pci=noacpi

    And boot from that.
