    I've heard that linux has had issues with ATI cards, I wonder if my new laptop will have issues with it (the MSI gx640 in sig). i've tried to fin info on the subject, but have been unsuccessful. any input? thanks.

    make a partion and try it.
    but yes i have had issues in the past with ati card under ubuntu

    i just checked the drivers for ati, they don't have any linux drivers for the mobility radeon 5000 series. does this mean there will be issues?

    not necessarily. mobile drivers always lag behind in linux but that doesnt mean there will be an issue but i guess we will wait and see.
