Hello,
How is the compatibility with the Ultrabay Battery on Linux? I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 x64 (2.6.24-19-generic) on a T61p (specs in sig). I've read some general things from thinkwiki, which says that the switchover should be automatic, but I was hoping for some more specificity with my own setup. Also, are there any GUIs that can show the discharge level of each battery and other sort of stats like that?
Thanks

OT, but how does the T61p do on x64? wireless, microphone, enhanced graphics, etc?
On topic, does the default battery app (shows up for me in Gnome) not show two batteries? Or do you not have the extra battery yet? -
I haven't tested the microphone.
As for the enhanced graphics, the only thing I really tested them with was Compiz, which worked well without any lag, but I turned it off due to battery life. The nvidia binary drivers installed fine via the Ubuntu interface without any incompatibilities. Right now, I can't hibernate, and I heard that the nvidia drivers had something to do with that.
With regards to peripherals, my wireless USB mouse, iPod, webcam, and even cell phone worked excellently. No real need to configure anything to get it to work.
I do not have the extra battery yet. -
Interesting, thanks for the update(s). I might switch from 32 to 64bit...
Sorry can't help with the battery ?, would be interesting to see what happens if you just plugged one in, though. -
I get a hard lock (requiring a restart) whenever I remove my cdrom on my 32 bit version of 8.04 Ubuntu. I don't have the ultrabay battery so I really can't say anything about what else that happens.
Also the wireless works fine, its been working since the Gutsy. Feisty was when the kernel didn't have support for it. -
Eatery, this came up in my other thread (re: Thinkpad and battery apps), might be of some help?
