This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Ubuntu CD burned from ISO image

    WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE

    Well, depending on which ISO you use, nothing. The Desktop ISO will create a live CD. The Alternate install ISO will not. I'm not sure about the server ISO.

    Live CD is bootable, you can run an OS right from it without installing. "Ubuntu CD burned from ISO image" is probably the same in this context ;-) - afair all Ubuntu desktop CDs are bootable.

    Just visit http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download and download the ISO you can then burn wiht Nero or whatever program you use, and boot from.

    Yeah the Ubuntu CD is Live bootable or you can install it.
