And this is linux related because.....???

I've never heard of a laptop with a quad-core AMD CPU... unless you are referring to a desktop, in which case this is the wrong forum.
However, if you are interested in a custom laptop running Linux, consider Dell's Ubuntu line-up, or head over to www.system76.com. -
This will be a Custom build not an OTC system from some major name brand manufacturer.
I am looking for someone with a specific skill set to custome build a system. And yes these are laptops I am looking for Not desktops.
as for you Baserk

Not sure about AMD quad cores, but I have had good experiences with Powernotebooks: http://www.powernotebooks.com/viewsystem.php?sysId=2755
Another option would be: http://system76.com/product_info.php?cPath=28&products_id=87 -

These guys will build you a customized Thinkpad W700, which they call the Raptor W700, and a customized Dell Latitude M6400, which they call the Rhino, both of which can be customized by them for almost every one of your specs, except the 500gb 7200rpm drive. I would guess they may be able to source you one if they're available, (the only model out now that I'm aware of is the Seagate Momentus 7200.4 ST9500420AS, but it's out of stock everywhere), because they offer many disk upgrade related options including SSDs and FDE. The only other spec they can't meet is the AMD quad core CPU. The only option they offer is Intel Core2 Quad Core. Of course this article seems to be stating that there won't be any quad core AMD CPU for laptops until 2010.
Good Luck.. -

Since you might not find the capacity you are looking for, you might just want to invest in an external hard drive for media storage. -
v1k1ng1001, jas, Pitabred,
Many thanks All, that is very much appreciated. Had not heard about the quad-cores being delayed until 2010, that's good to know.

BTW
I apologize for confusing you. Detailed specs under a specific heading usually tells me, that someone intentionally put it there, and knows exactly what they are doing. Next time I will draw a picture.
Looking for a Custom Built System!
