I'd like to know if there are any Linux equivalent to the Adobe products
Premiere
Photoshop
After Effects
SoundBooth
Media Encoder
Dreamweaver
I'd like to know as I've heard Linux is a very stable OS and I'd like to explore it for content creation.
I've heard of CINELERRA for video editing. How does it compare to commercial products like Avid, Premiere or Final Cut Pro and does anyone use it professionally?

Though I don't use Linux for any of this, I don't really know, but I did manage to find the following for them. (I have used Audacity, KompoZer, and Gimp, they are really good!)
Premiere = Cinerella
Photoshop = Gimp
After Effects = Cinefx
Sound Booth = Audacity
Media Encoder = Don't Know
Dreamweaver = KompoZer -
Cinelerra is used professionally by many companies. But it's hard to reference because many companies play stuff like that close to their chest. They don't like to give away their secrets
It's a bit more difficult of an interface than some of the more mainstream products, but it's exceptionally powerful.
As for media encoder, I have no idea what it does, but I personally just use mencoder, or handbrake. I also know that tsMuxeR will do some limited authoring. There's not a whole lot that does disc authoring on Linux though, as far as I know, but I haven't dug into it. Google should help -

It may be useful to visit the specific application website, to see if there are user forums, where these comparisons are often made by the experienced users of the programs. Sometimes these kinds of questions can be answered pretty directly by visiting these user forums.
In the case of Cinelerra ( 1, 2), there doesn't seem to be a user forum, although there is a mailing list that you can look through the archives here, which may contain threads comparing their feature sets. Using Google, I was able to find a single thread from the mailing list from 2006 here, that offers some, (probably dated), comparison. It's pretty munged in the archive, so if you want to read a cleaner version of the same thread check it out here, over at the OSDir mailing list archive. There is one interesting quote from the thread;

the short answer is there are none which even come close to adobe products. That is the reason designers like myself will always have either a rather robust windows and mac machine specifically for these programs. The day adobe plays nice with linux is the day I will be able to jump ship forever. but that day is rather unlikely to come.... ever

First of all, what do you use Photoshop for, painting, graphic design, photo-processing? I use Photoshop strictly for photo-editing and I have found digiKam to be an excellent replacement, to the point that I hardly ever use Photoshop any more.

For video editing, I recommend that you give Kdenlive a try. There are some very good tutorials available for it:

What do you do with Dreamweaver? One possibility is Kompozer. -
