Hello. My laptop, every time i shut it down from ubuntu, makes two large loud popping noises.
How do i disable these? They are quite annoying.

Same here 12.04 LTS, I have found muting the sound just B4 shutdown fixes it in my Dell D610 (I only use internal speakers)
I did find this link + will try the term commands and report back 12.04 - Loud pop on shutdown/reboot - Ask Ubuntu
Same here the coomands in the link did not fix this -
Some guy says i need to turn off EAP. How do i do that? -

I just installing linux on my y410p and have encountered the same problem
Has anyone managed to come up with a fix yet? -
Do you have any settings in BIOS that are sound related? You could try turning off sound there and testing. I moved on to Bodhi Linux and no longer have this issue.

I completely disabled sound and I'm still getting the popping on shutdown
Seems to be an Arch Linux issue. I guess I'll have to switch to another distro. -

Issue was fixed on all distros running 3.13 kernel or newer

Edit: yay. I fixed it! Adding:
options snd-hda-intel model=,generic
to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf fixed it for me.
