So, I have been looking at the different versions of Mint; E.g. Mint 6, KDE, Fluxbox. So what are the advantages and disadvantages of the different versions? I know that Fluxbox is supposed to be low resource, and KDE is more visually impressive. Any other important differences?

To understand the differences a bit between (at least) Gnome and KDE, check this coverage of a Gnome vs. KDE deathmatch.
    The final smackdown.
(And it will get you into Linux geekiness... ;)).
    Also, check this.
    Cheers.

I'm a fan of Xfce....but, IMO, if you're just starting I'd think you'd find Gnome to be easier to configure and work with. That would be the Mint main edition or Gnome.
