arunr: they should all be fine. You may need to make a trivial change to a configuration file for the back / forward buttons to be supported, though. Let me know if they don't work and I'll let you know what it is.

I download and burned the Mandriva 2008.1 Spring iso. I can only use it through VMware, since it won't boot on my HP DV9000t. The disc boots ok to a point, but then the screen goes blank and all disk activity ceases. I believe it stalls before picking the country settings or keyboard type...I don't remember exactly so don't laugh.

Anyway, has anyone encountered a similar problem and if so how did you get past it ...besides ditching it and going for another distro?

I've had it happen with various distros....had to reburn the disk, slowly....NO cdrw disks! Did you check your md5 checksum?

Thanks. I'll will re-download the iso and re-burn the disk...slowly....I don't use cd-rw discs. I will check the md5 checksum this time to rule out possible errors. Funny thing is the disc installed just fine in VMware.

I've also that that happen in Mint, where it dies out, then by trying again, then a third time it was fine. Flaky burn job I think.
