Linux cannot natively run Office, but there are options:

    1) Use OpenOffice
    2) Get a copy of "Wine" for Linux, which allows most Windows programs to work on Linux.

I'm not even sure Office 2007 will run well on Wine (if at all)... I understand that it tends to work better with older versions of Office.

I'd certainly check out the OpenOffice.org suite and see if it meets your needs.

Yea, open office is about 90% compatable with office 2007.

Just make sure that you can use the .docx extension- do a google search for .docx extension ubuntu and there will be a tutorial about how you can read/write .docx files in linux.

If you absolutely need MS Office. You'll most likely need to install Windows under VMWare. And use Office in that.

Otherwise OpenOffice is your best choice.

BTW .....Wine sucks for 90% of Windows apps. I would stay away from. Forget about using MS Office under it.

Since when? I find Wine works quite well for most everything. I've played all the way through American McGee's Alice with it, and Starcraft works wonderfully under Wine, as well as do most other non-system type programs. As long as you aren't trying to install a program like daemon tools or something that really works closely with the internals of Windows, wine should be able to run it pretty well.

Well if your talking Games. I wouldn't know. But if your talking Apps/Programs, Wine sucks bigtime. Especially with MS products(with an exception for old MS apps).
