I'm having a problem with Wubi so I'm going to go back to full Ubuntu.

How can I migrate all of my settings (most important) and programs and files from Wubi to Ubuntu?

si tommi, wubi wiki nubi :D :D

Seriously, that's why most peeps keep a separate /home partition to save all those settings....that's where they are.

Yarly, separate /home is the way to go. I did this when I installed Dapper Drake on my desktop waaaaaaaaaay back in the day, and now I'm about to upgrade to Hardy, and I'm still using the same /home partition - never had to back up anything to reinstall.

If you separate your /home in a different partition, will a new ubuntu installation automatically recognize it or do you have to do some sort of manual file transfer?

    Just wondering...

It will recognize it just like it created it. So will applications even if they have to be reinstalled.
