This is probably a really dumb question and I don't have an answer, but is it possible to remove the Home Folder and Computer icons from my desktop, then put a Home Folder shortcut icon on my taskbar panel? Thanks for any help.

Yeah you can pretty much right click in empty space on your panel and click Add to Panel and then add a custom shortcut for nautilus /home/yourname/ to get to your home folder.
To hide/unhide the home folder icon on the desktop:
Code:gconftool-2 --toggle /apps/nautilus/desktop/home_icon_visible
Code:gconftool-2 --toggle /apps/nautilus/desktop/computer_icon_visible

Thanks all. I'll give it a whirl.
