    Move Home Folder to Taskbar

    This is probably a really dumb question and I don't have an answer, but is it possible to remove the Home Folder and Computer icons from my desktop, then put a Home Folder shortcut icon on my taskbar panel? Thanks for any help.

    This webpage outlines a method for adding a Home folder shortcut to your desktop panel under "2. Panels (top or bottom)". And as for removing the Home folder from your desktop, this page outlines a method for doing so with gconf.

    Yeah you can pretty much right click in empty space on your panel and click Add to Panel and then add a custom shortcut for nautilus /home/yourname/ to get to your home folder.

    To hide/unhide the home folder icon on the desktop:
    Code: 
    gconftool-2 --toggle /apps/nautilus/desktop/home_icon_visible
    ..computer icon:
    Code: 
    gconftool-2 --toggle /apps/nautilus/desktop/computer_icon_visible
    That's the same as using gconf-editor except it's on the command line.
