How do I adjust the scrolling wheel speed?

Scrolling down on web pages with the wheel takes forever.

    Using Fedora 10.

There's no easy way to change the number of scroll lines across the entire desktop (at least that I know of), but in firefox you can go to about:config and type numlines into the filter and change mousewheel.withnokey.sysnumlines to false and the mousewheel.withnokey.numlines entry from 1 to a higher value.

Just type about:config into the place where you type addresses in firefox. You will probably have to click thru a warning.

AuG is talking about a Firefox setting that can also be found in Windows. :) You access it by typing about:config into the URL bar, the same way you would go to a website.

For changing the setting throughout your linux environment, it's best to use a Synaptics, Mouse, or Touchpad configuration tool in your desktop's Control Panel. Anyone of those should work. You might also want to look at gsynaptics. You should be able to install it through your package manager.

Hm, no options there for me for # of lines to scroll with the wheel in Gnome. Are they there for you?

I just went with the assumption that the OP is using a touchpad. Which makes little sense since he specifically said "wheel". :p

I can't change # of lines to scroll either, but there is an option for scroll speed. That's what I meant, although I realize that that's totally different...
