I used Window's disk manager to delete a single partition that I no longer needed but apparently it deleted all the partitions off my second hard drive  I guess it won't delete a logical partition, but the entire extended partition along with all the logical partitions within it. Thus, I kind of lost the boot partition containing Grub, and my PC won't startup so I am using an Ubuntu Live CD as I type this. The data however is still intact. I can still access them from the Live CD (to my amazement).

First I need to recover the lost partition that Window's Disk Manager managed to delete. Is there any way to do this off of the Live CD? Once I do that, everything should be back to normal including my boot partition.

Note to self: Use Gparted, never Window's Disk Management

    Try these:

In particular, the first two links:

    TestDisk - CGSecurity

Linux Data Recovery Software. Recover Linux Files. Linux Recovery Tool

Free Windows Partition and Data Recovery Software - EASEUS Data Recovery Software, Partition Recovery.

Google 'recover deleted partitions' for more options.

Windows Data Recovery Software. Recover FAT - NTFS Partition & Recover Windows Deleted Partition Data

I have recovered the partitions, but Grub is acting up. I got an Error 15 message. It's probably looking for it. Any clue as to how to make it work?

The boot partition is located on sdb8 or (hd1,7).

I forgot to type "Sudo" Grub in the command. No wonder lol. Everything's back to normal! Thanks!

Edit: oh and one more thing. Is there a website where I can download a bunch of utilities such as gparted, memtest, grub, testdisk, etc. (all in one) that I can all put into a single partition? I would like to run these tools outside an OS.

You'll need an OS to run those tools anyway. I think the grml live CD should have them all on board.
