I've just installed Mint 4.0 on my T60 and I relly like it as an alternative to Windows. I've been wanting to try Linux for a long time so now was the time.

Anyway, I would like to try to install some other themes than the standard ones. I only tried with the Theme Manager (when you right-click on the desktop). I've also only tried with themes which was archieved in tar.gz archieves. When using those they ususally change most of the theme, but not the panel in the bottom of the desktop. It changes but not so it looks like the screenshots provided with the theme.

I've not found a really nice theme i want to try but it only comes in zip format. So I don't know how to install it. I've tried to unpack it and then zip it again in a tar.gz archieve but then the Theme Manager says "invalid format".

Here's the theme I want to install:

Can someone provide me with a step-by-step guide on how to get my desktop to look like the one in the screenshot, as I'm a total newbie at Linux. It will be very much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jakob Laursen

You can use the command "unzip" in a terminal to extract files.

Put the folder with the extracted files in the directory ~/.themes (hidden).
