Hey all I am completely new to Linux. I just installed Ubuntu 7.10 on a 30gb partition and I personally love the feel and look of it. But I do have a problem. I mainly will use this OS for Autocad anf 3d work because it works well on Linux OS but I don't know how to install it. Do I need a Winzip type thing like XP or will it start installing when I click it?Thank you

First of all, exactly what program are you using? And does the program have a .deb installer file? Or must you install from source?

You have to give us more detail.

A more descriptive title helps as well.

Sorry about that. The program is Autodesk Autocad 2008 and I believe its a .exe file. I was told that it can run on Linux and so I tried

You mean that it can run with emulation...
I haven't tried it but it may be possible with WINE

Install this package first with Synaptics package manager

Yeah, AutoCAD doesn't work with Linux. Some people have R14 working ok in Linux, but none of the newer versions work well.
