OK, I can't figure this out. I downloaded Ephinany Web Browser from Applications -> Add/Remove -> Internet -> Ephinany Web Browser. There are two listed.

Ephinany Web Browser and Ephinany Web Browser (Gecko). I installed them both and I double clicked on them when they installed and I got the Ephinany Web Browser to come up on the desktop. What's wierd is it doesn't show up under Applications -> Internet. It's the same issue I have with Compizconfig not showing up under System -> Prefs ->. What gives?

    Btw i'm running 9.04 x64 if that's helpful.

You can use synaptic package manager to fully eliminate those packages at which point you can reinstall them again and see if they work.

Nvm fellas, I rebooted and now it shows up under my Internet group.

One other thing I love about Ubuntu is that when you plug in a new device say like a mouse there's no waiting for the driver to load. It's instantaeous, you plug in the device and you can start to use it. :D

Oh btw FF sux. It's as much of a pig running under Windows as it does in Linux. I switched to Opera and Ephinany as my main browsers. Btw how does one go about setting Opera as the default browser? I looked everywhere in my settings but couldn't find it.

You might want to jump on ubuntu forums and ask for someone to write up a quick tutorial. There are a few out there but they may be out of date.

Thanks I checked the Ubuntu forums and it was pretty easy. System -> Pref -> Preferred Applications -> Web Browser default.

I've always really liked FF on 32bit but hated it on 64bit.

Is it slow? I don't understand what the problem is. I just ask because it seems plenty fast to me.

No, it just bogs down over time and sometimes hangs. It's like it develops a memory leak. I have the same problem on other laptops running Windows XP and Vista. Usually the problem starts when I hit a page that uses tons of Flash such as ESPN or a videogame website that also uses Flash for advertisements.

Opera doesn't exhibit this problem as much. The only way to fix the problem is by installing Ad-Block and then FF is fine.

Hmm interesting. I usually have 5-20 tabs open in a day. I guess the difference is I probably end up closing Firefox at least once in a work day... maybe that fixes it before I notice anything.

The big deal now is that there is that Adobe has provided an alpha version of their flash plugin for 64bit. Installing that seems to resolve a lot of the issues in FF for 64bit users. But yeah, I experienced the same thing in Ibex.
