    Come on, no one mentioned this?
    Notable Release Notes.
    Most notable changes is probably Tumbleweed.

    How could I missed the CodeName for 11.4?
    It is OpenSUSE 11.4 Release Celadon .

    This post = stupid = bull.

    OpenSUSE != SUSE
    OpenSUSE != Novell
    OpenSUSE = Community

    Novell made a deal that helped it, AND linux. And are you still really not over this?

    Frankly speaking I must give credit where it is due.
    I installed the GNOME version.
    It slightly less responsive as Fedora but not really noticeable difference.
    The packman repos were not up at the same time as the final release meaning cairo-dock is not available unless you compile from source.
    However it is much more stable and the UI is much more pleasant.
    It is good.

    The repo is up but not all the packages are available yet. :(
    1 thing I really like is the Software Manager, searching for a package is like doing a google search you get the package you want without having to find the actual package name and it returns result just as fast
    1 thing I hate is the Software Manager, it doesn't have Presto like functions and the packages takes a really long time to update.

    You can try adding this to /etc/zypp/zypp.conf.

    <code>
    commit.downloadMode = DownloadInAdvance

    What does this do?
    Presto is good as it patches the RPMs reducing download size so you don't have to download the new RPM packages.
    Anyway on the live image they "forgot" to add the gnome-audio dependency so if click on sound hangs it, just grab gnome-audio off the repo.

    They also took out a lot of unnecessary xorg drivers and firmware.

    Just 1 thing they didn't do as well -- No Plymouth...

    Also there is some serious indexing occuring in OpenSUSE.
    Anyway the OS is very good, smooth enough not to notice any quirks.
    If you enable compiz, the animation mirrors the aeropeek and many Windows 7 "effects" on OpenSUSE.
    It might just be good enough for me to jump from Fedora. =)
    I give a score of 90%. -10% for no plymouth, gnome-audio not present and no presto like feature.

    What is gnome audio?

    And they do have a presto-like feature....the same thing really, delta rpms. But by default, zypper(the package manager) downloads and installs packages one by one - thus taking a while.

    That code I put changes the settings so it downloads all packages, then installs. It's much faster.

    I don't use gnome, sorry.

    It includes pulseaudio, though, and it's controls.

    No, I'm over it, and apperently neither is the FOSS community as evidenced by design of GPL 3

    I love it, except the way you have to replace system packages with Packman packages, then come upgrade time, do it all over again.....damm! :)
