Does anyone have a recommendation for a PDF writer? The suggestions in Software center do not look promising. I only need to fill out a claim form. Thanks

For filling out pdf forms, the Evince Document Viewer works for me. It is the default document viewer that comes pre-installed in Ubuntu. No need to install anything else. You simply double-click your pdf form file, fill it out, and then print or save it.

If you want to create a pdf file, you can use Libre Office Writer, or if you are are trying to create a graphical pdf, you use Inkscape, I create all my vector art for my business in Inkscape, and then save it as a pdf for my advertisers and invoice/brochure people.

Libre Office comes pre-Installed. (minus the database portion.)

Inkscape you have to install yourself.
