Hello,
today I stumbled upon this tool which apparently is able to undervolt your cpu: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PHC
What surprised me is that it says it's compatible with 2nd gen Core cpus, i.e. Sandy Bridge.
Anybody tried it?

I thought Intel XTU is supposed to work only for XM cpus and for unlocked BIOSes (BIOSes providing voltage options). Am I wrong? I have an i7-2760qm and my laptop has no voltage settings in the bios.
Also, is there a Linux version of Intel XTU?jaybee83 likes this. -
yes, that is correct! but that would most likely also be true for any third party applications trying to tinker with voltages
