I'm downloading Kubuntu. When I go to install it, I want to partition a part of my hard drive off for it. Will it automatically do that when I install it or what should I do?

The Kubuntu installer has a partition utility, but it really sucks. I would recommend using a 3rd party partitioner, then telling the Kubuntu installer where to put the OS. There are many threads about partitioning programs, just look around.
Btw, do you know about swap spaces and all that stuff? -
Assuming you have other partitions with various OSs on them, you are probably best off partitioning before you install the Kubuntu. The default partition utility is good for creating partitions, but not so good for resizing/moving.
If you've got Partition Magic, use it to allocate the space you want for the Kubuntu install. Then the kubunte installer can mange the formatting etc. Otherwise gparted is really good http://gparted.sourceforge.net/ -
No, I really don't know anything about it. I'm just bored and wanting something new to keep me occupied really.
