    Ubuntu Lucid
    Lubuntu
    Mint 9 Isadora
    Peppermint

    and features LXDE.....interesting.....it's fast too.

Nice.. if I was not on the hunt for a very stable system I would totally go for it! Ya know I love Openbox and speed. Looking at Mint right now but liveCD won't work... going to burn it again.

It's pretty decent judging from the LiveCD....I'm trying to figure out if it's a "serious" distro or not :)

LiveCD? Count me in! I need to test this out, LOL. I'm not sure about the seriousness either... let me know what you find out. Have you heard of ArchBang... a derivative (offical) of Arch with a LiveCD and a theme like CrunchBang?

Testing... but its only a 32 bit and I am not letting my RAM go to waste. I am thinking since it so light and fast I could try it on our older desktop running Vista. It's crashing on a regular bases and I think a visit to the Computer Doc is in order... so that means doing a backup which means I can pop in Linux. LOL. Great find!

    Yes...but I went back to gnome....Mint 9 x64 cause it's long term support...just doesn't get any better than that really. :)

Kendall, who does the Peppermint OS (just to keep it on-topic!), released the RC for Mint 9 LXDE last week. Mint is dropping the "Community Edition" tag for the LXDE version for Mint 9, so it will be a fully supported version. So you can have your LTS and LXDE it, too! :)

However, there will not be a x64 LXDE version.

That first post is actually a decent description of various popular Ubuntu-based distros. Downloading it now to stick on a LiveUSB, but I have a feeling it's gonna be a little too light for me. I don't like being tethered to the internet.

    **edit**
Running it now, it boots surprisingly fast off a LiveUSB, certainly faster than Mint did. It's a really light OS, a lot of the "applications" are really just links to websites through Prism in firefox. I'm thinking this would be a pretty good netbook distro, very light and snappy. Going to bounce between this and Mint for a while and let you know how it goes.

    *edit again*

too much was stripped out of peppermint OS, can't customize something as simple as keyboard shortcuts without wanting to give the system a backhanded slap. Maybe it's just openbox messing with me. Jumping to Mint9LXDE for now.
