is there a better way to have data shared between different distros other than setting the same uid during installation? I tried to set groups but any subsequent files will need to be chgrp individually(not set top folder wide)

is the best solution just to use same uid across distros, if I do that, will I just be able to rwx all files created by me across distros?
I have a ext3 partition just for data as some of you might know from the other thread.

    thanks
