    Hi guys,
Does anyone know if there is a pendrivelinux or portable unix that can run on windows 7 64bit? I have one that works great on vista 32bit without changing the bios but haven't been able to find anything like this for windows 7. Any suggetions anyone can offer would be most welcome and will be very grateful.
    Thanks.

    Hi ALLurGroceries,
Thanks again I got the Portable_Ubuntu_DOS_Lite.exe 331 mb. But unfortunately
its not working I get an error:

A fatal error has occurred and Cygwin/X will not exit. Please open /var/log/XWin.0.log for more information.
    vendor: the cygwin/x project
    release: 1.6.3.0(20090902)
    contact:[email protected]
XWin was started with the following command-line:
XWin :0 -ac -notrayicon -multiwindow -dpi 100

    the xwin.0 file says:

comxwin was started with the following command line:XWin :0 -ac -notrayicon -multiwindow -dpi 100 ddxProcessorArgument - Initializing default screenswinInitializeDefaultScreens -W 1366 h 768 winInitializeDeaultScrens - ReturningFatal server error:Server is alrealy active for display 0 If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X0-lock and start again.

I have absolutely no idea how to fix this so the only thing I can think of is try to download Portable_Ubuntu_DOS_release_4.exe 492.7 mib and see if it might work.

Any suggestions if anyone has ran into this error before and might know of a fix they can share with me?
Thank you so much in advance.

    Hi ALLurGroceries,

Your right the site is down, I can't get to it either.

I tried the link you gave me but still gives me the same dpi 100 error as the above. When I tried the first one it did say it was for a 32bit and the other it might be the same. Im not sure if maybe thats the problem Im not on a 32bit mine is a amd 64X2 64bit.

well, I guess than there might not be a portable unix that I could use.

Thank you for your help and your time, I really appreciate it.

If you delete /tmp/.X0-lock does it work? I still can't get to their site... but it sounds like an easy enough fix.

    Hi ALLurGroceries,

I deleted the /tmp/.X0-lock, I downloaded both programs again and tried to get a fresh copy and still gives me the same error.

Maybe the site might have shut down or something, I can't see it either.

    Thanks again for your time.

Their site seems to be back up. I'd try asking here about your problem, paste in the errors that you have in your post above.

I couldn't find anything that looked like a similar thread for your problem or anything on the Wiki... good luck.

    Hi ALLurGroceries,
Thank you so much. Ill check them out right now. Thanks again.

@ fuyuki thanks but prefer something like how portable ubuntu allows people to use unix with out the dual boot.

    Thanks again.
